Farewell, beautiful Elizabeth. God Bless your beautiful children. You all have been a great example of courage, grace and true beauty..which only comes from the inside. We pray for you.
After three long years of caring for two family members with cancer, completely unlike Elizabeth’s, but nonetheless awful, her strength and beliefs as a patient made me understand better what my loved ones were feeling. Through that I was able to maintain my faith, my family and my tenacity to help them move on to what God’s wishes were. The true test of a family is watching someone you love deal with this horrific disease. Elizabeth, you are now and always will be an inspiration to all those affected by this and while I am still in this process with one family member still surviving so far, I will always, always draw from you the strength it takes to not only love unconditionally but strive to be the woman that you were throughout the good times and bad. May God wrap his arms around you and allow you to reunite with Wade. God’s Speed Elizabeth Edwards.
I read a story of Elizabeth’s passing, I find myself again with tears in my eyes. I never personally met Elizabeth, but she is a hero to many. Only a few could show the grace she did in the most trying of times. She is an inspiration to all.
I remind of my mother death (cancer)on Thamksgiving day 17 years ago. Hope that you know your mother is in better place. She will be look over you from heaven. You are in my prays.
The most dignified and couragious woman I have known in my 39 years of being on this Earth..my hearts go out to the family. She always wanted a private life..and you got it til the end. God Bless you Elizabeth, you will forever be in my heart.
The unconditional love and the strength Elizabeth showed through this difficult journey is remarkable. I will pray for her and your family during this difficult time. I lost my mother to cancer at 14, but there is not a day that goes by I do not remember her strength and love. The things a mother is determined to do for her family in her last hours is extraordinary. May you all keep those memories close to your heart forever.
Elizabeth, you and I never met. I knew you only through your public life, but your grace touched me deeply. You inspired me to find more patience, love and forgiveness inside of myself. What you gave to all of us will never be forgotten. Thank you, Elizabeth. Peace to you and your family.
As a survivor (with a young daughter) since 2005, I followed all media reports, interviews, etc. on Elizabeth. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. You are my inspiration.
My heart is sadden with the news of Elizabeth’s passing. My dad lost his battle with cancer when he was only 55 years old. Like Elizabeth, he too, went peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Over the years, I’ve struggled with accepting the fact that he lost his battle to cancer. When I heard Elizabeth’s final words about focusing on living a great life and not the battle against cancer, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. I started to cry, for my dad, for Elizabeth, and for all of the other people who “lived great lives”. Thank-you Elizabeth, for being the forever optimist. You are truly an inspiration and I know your star is shining bright. You are now at peace. Your legacy will live on in your beautiful children and this country will never forget all of the work and public service you have done.
I just wanted to say how touched I am by Elizabeth’s story. Her grace and her goodness has touched me greatly! She will be a role model for many, and I just wish her children and family the very best. She loved you all and I know you will miss her terribly, but she has lefy you all and us a great legacy.
Bless all of her family and friends..
She touched many of us, who never had the pleasure of meeting her.
May she rest in peace.

I had the honor of meeting Elizabeth Edwards at her book signing for Amazing Graces at Quail Ridge Books. I was amazed at her way of making each person feel special… when I told her about my sister losing her only child and son at the age of 17 and the beautiful inscription to wrote to my sister, and the beautiful message she wrote to me as a lung cancer patient and survivor… I will never forget her gentleness and her caring nature. God bless, Elizabeth.
To Elizabeth’s loved ones:
I did not know her, but I found her to be a splendid representative for women of our generation. Simply put, I loved her. Her intellect, her energy and passion astonished me and reminded me of myself. I cherished her books and rushed to buy them. It seemed that she could be direct and blunt, charming and gracious, hot-tempered, as well as deeply maternal and kind. In other words, like all of us. And that wonderful face! Her humor and good cheer, her determination and stubbornness! I liked all of it, and was grateful for her role as a public Democrat. She was just right on target on her issues. Such a fine person, fine instincts, wholly human. We grieve with you and celebrate her magnificent life.
“John 14:18- I wil not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Mr. Edwards, Catherine, Emma, & Jack: My heart and prayers go out to each of you and your entire family. Each time I saw Mrs. Edwards on television or heard an interview, she ALWAYS exuded GRACE! She carried herself with dignity and she seemed so warm and kindhearted. She seemed like someone I’d want to meet and just listen to the wisdom that she’d have to offer. Let the Lord comfort you and rest assured that your wife and mom is resting in the loving arms of JESUS! The memories you have of her will help you to smile through many of your tears. You all have two angels looking over you now! I’m sure she and Wade had an AWESOME reunion Tuesday!
May God bless and keep each of you!

Though I was never blessed with the opportunity to meeet your mother, I have been inspired by her courage and strength. When I learned of her passing, I prayed for all of you. She was willing to share herself with others. She truly taught valuable lessons with her life… and those gifts will continue on in you. Pay the love you have been given from your mother forward. In doing so, the most lovely qualities about her will continue touching lives.
God bless you and keep you.
I send my deepest condolences to you all! As I read about your mother’s passing, I was overcome with sadness. Having never met, I realized what a special soul she was that she could touch people through her writings. She was real no matter what she was experiencing. If she was in pain, you knew. If she was joyous, you felt it. I hope you realize how lucky you were to have been loved by such an extrordinary woman. She will live on through each and every one of you!
I never had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth, but felt as if I knew her as a friend, from reading her books. She exhibited all the qualities that make a godly woman, and when tragedy came to her as a mother in the loss of Wade, she showed magnificent grace and strength and gave hope to us who had went through that same heartache. When personal illness invaded her life, again, she did not run and hide or cower away from it, but faced in with a strength and determination to beat it,and she did for 6 years with her saving graces and resilience !
Elizabeth Edwards was a shining light to women without hope and to those who had no one to encourage them.,She put her life on display as an example to us all and gave all women and probably some men as well, the courage, the strength and the will to stand up and proclaim and tell the world that ‘I will not be a victim and I can beat this disease and overcome personal tragedy should it happen. Most of all she taught us that it is NOT our fault when things go wrong at times and the importance of the fact that we should NOT live with guilt but believe in our ability to rise above circumstances.
I admired her, as a advocate for better health-care,I admired her as a woman with a tremendous amount of love and courage. Being a mother was what she did best,I think and to her children, let me say, I know she was an amazing one to all of you. She was the essence and the beauty of hope.
To,her children, Catharine,Emma Claire and Jack, to her sister, brother and other family members, please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences in the sad loss of your mother, sister,or loved one Elizabeth Edwards, was the hand that held the rose, she was the smile of hope for so many of us and she was the beauty of all that love is.She extended a hand of caring and friendship to everyone, no matter who they were or where they came from and that will always be remembered and cherished.May God hold all of you in his loving arms and hide you in the protection of his love.
Elizabeth is now home with God and her beloved son, Wade. The heavenly choir has gained another beautiful voice, but we haven’t lost it here because her life and legacy will always live on.
My deepest sympathy to your entire family at this terrible time. We lost my fiance’s mom in August to lung cancer at the age of 51. I know there are no word to take your pain away, but your mother was an inspiration to so many. She was the face of courage and she will always be remembered. God Bless each of you , now and always.
Dear Edwards Family: If only every child could have a mother who loved as deeply as your mother loved you, Cate, Emma, and Jack. Hold your memories of her close and take comfort in knowing she will be watching over you from above. She was a courageous woman, who led her life with grace and great faith. God bless you all in the days ahead.
“I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible; to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance, to live so that which came to me as seed goes to the next as blossom, and that which came to me as blossom, goes on as fruit.” – Dawna Markova
~God shall wipe all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death…nor shall there be anymore pain…for the former things are passed away…
May you rest in peace Elizabeth…amazing that a stranger can touch your heart if you allow them~
May your journey home be a peaceful one where your son is awaiting on the other side of the clouds…~
My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Edwards family and friends. Having lost my Mother this year to this disease I can feel your pain. Your Mother, Wife and Friend was such an inspiration for many people (not just women) who have publically endured trials and tribulations. God bless you all. Hold on to God’s unchanging hand and I pray you find comfort in having such a remarkable angel in your lives for the time that you did.
