It is said that the eyes are the windows of the soul. I did not have the great, good fortune to meet Elizabeth personally but I met her through the media. I was always interested in what she had to say, not only through her words but what her eyes silently said. There was always a twinkle, a wisdom, a knowingness that radiated from them. Elizabeth is now in good hands and in heavenly company. I know she is united with Wade and now the two of them will join forces to continue to love and support the rest of their family.

  2. Your mother was amazing!! I watched her at last years Women’s Conference in California and couldn’t help but marvel how positive and beaming she was. She had cancer, how could she be so positive…..I hung on every word she said during that conference. I know she would have been someone I would have like upon first meeting. She is with you and will always be….I am so sorry for your loss of her at this time….let her life inspire yours and carry you through.

  3. She was truly a very special person who will be dearly missed. May God Bless her soul and be with her children and family!

  4. You have been an inspiration to us all. Prayers are with your children and there well being. With Love and Well Wishes, Brigid Denny, Winston-Salem,NC

I had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth Edwards during the National Federation of Democratic Woman convention in Connecticut in 2003. I was there accepting an internship to the DNC and she was giving a speech to the women during a luncheon. I had the opportunity to sit next to her during the lunch and we talked about my upcoming internship and how much fun I would be having in DC for the summer. Before Elizabeth went to make her speech, she turned to me and said “will you check my teeth for spinach, I don’t want to go up there with green in my teeth.” I did as she asked, and we both laughed and laughed. I will never forget that moment.

She was an inspiration to woman everywhere, no matter their race, background or political beliefs. Heaven has an extra special angel looking down on us all. I know her legacy will be carried on by those who loved her and believed in her many causes. May you be comforted in knowing she is with the Lord and in peace and she is smiling on us all.

  6. While I never met Elizabeth, I admired her courage and strength no matter what life threw at her. I am truly praying she is now resting in peace with her son. I read “Resilience” and her final lines about learning to adjust your sails has stayed with me as great advice to follow for the rest of my life.

Thanks, Elizabeth. God bless you and your children, siblings, admirers like me, and many friends.

  7. She was a Superwoman, a sister soldier,an inspiration. Thank you, Elizabeth. Peace be unto you.

Although I never met Elizabeth, I admired her love for policy and justice. Her determination and commitment to family inspired me to know that I too could obtain both and be equally successful. For that, I will always apreciate. I admire her courage that she displayed in fighting cancer. She never appeared in public to let it affect her focus…. I am sure this self-efficacy assisted her strength until the end. Her family and her memory is forever blessed!

We have never met Elizabeth Edwards and that is our loss. We have always admired her stance on life and life’s social issues, her courage and determination to live life with great dignity. God will certainly welcome her with open arms.

  10. Elizabeth Edwards is one classy woman. Not only did she look death in the eyes, she fought back. She has written her life stories for her children to remember her by for the last 4 years. She took her personal tragedy and turned the sour grapes into a beautiful bed of roses. She will be missed by many but I’m sure the Angels on the Other Side are smiling now! Rest in peace dear lady, rest in peace.

I did not know Ellizabeth personally, but she was an inspiration to me in how to face adversity in life. This is what she will be remembered for, as well as being the mother to four wonderful, intelligent, talented and beautiful children. Her grace, determination. strength, and intelligence has helped set an example for me and all women to folllow. Her love of life and seeing all its possibilities even in it’s darkest moments will help thousands of women do the same. She shed light where there was none. She made this world a better place through her work and taught us all how to face fear, illness, devastating loss, and betrayal with grace and head held high. To her children: May God bless you and hold you near as you continue your journey through life. Your mother’s bright light will shine on you and lead the way. You children are truly blessed to have had Elizabeth as your mother.

Every time I read a story of Elizabeth’s passing, I find myself again with tears in my eyes. I never personally met Elizabeth, but she is a hero to many. Only a few could show the grace she did in the most trying of times. She is an inspiration to all.

My husband lost his father (also to cancer) when he was Jack’s age. It is something that changes you forever, and I am praying for the family every night.

I also pray that we will someday soon find a cure for this deadly disease so no others have to know the suffering Elizabeth in her final years and so no other family bears the broken heart of losing someone to cancer.

In the words of Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

  14. To Elizabeth’s children: Your mother was a shining light in our dark world. She had so much dignity and class and served as an example for all human beings. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

  15. My deepest condolences to Elizabeth’s family for their incredible loss. Elizabeth, you have displayed great strength, courage and grace throughout and you have been my role model and hero. Rest in Peace!

  16. I admired Elizabeth Edwards and think she was a truely amazing woman. I read her book after the death of my oldest son, it brought me comfort during the most difficult time of my life. Her ability to speak so honestly about her life touched many others. May God bless her children during this difficult time.

Though I never had the pleasure of meeting your beautiful and courageous mother, I have followed her in the news for the last decade. As a woman of considerable intelligence and grace, she touched more people than anyone could have imagined. Love and blessings to you and your family.

  18. There is nothing more that I can say except that I am deeply saddened by the loss of this great woman. My thoughts and prayers for her family and for her children. May you all have the grace and courage to live as she did, keeping her memory ever before your eyes.

    May God bless Elizabeth Edwards.

  20. I read Elizabeth book about 6 months ago. I live in Raleigh and was so move by her book that I found the cemetary where Wade is and put flowers on his grave. The angel that she talks about in the book is awsome. I was so hoping to meet her and tell her how much I admired her. My son Adam is HIV positive and I gave the book to him to read. Elizabeths strength and dedication to her children is beyond what words can explain. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Elizabeth and Wade, rest in peace. You are finally at rest with Wade, rest in peace.
